Shahbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of extension project of Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital

Lahore : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of extension project of Recep Tayyip Erdogan Government of the Punjab Hospital Muzaffargarh today and also inaugurated family medicine clinic of the hospital.

Completion of extension project will result in an increase of 400 beds in the hospital due to which its bed capacity will rise to 500 beds. A sum of more than nine billion rupees will be spent on the project. Moreover, 113 acre land has been acquired for the extension of the hospital.

The Chief Minister laid foundation stone of the project of increase of 250 beds in the first phase of the hospital and the project will be completed by the end of current year. He also visited Recep Tayyip Erdogan Government of the Punjab Hospital Muzaffargarh and reviewed medical facilities. He went to various sections of the hospital and inquired after the patients. He inquired from the patients about the medical facilities available at the hospital and expressed satisfaction over the availability of splendid healthcare facilities in the hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif said that modern health facilities are being extended to patients in the hospital and he was pleased to see use of modern equipment for the treatment of patients. He said that he is determined to provide such modern machinery in all hospitals of the province. He said that besides modern equipment, trained doctors and staff have been appointed at the hospital and are infused with the spirit of service to ailing humanity.

He said as a result of extension of the hospital, medical problems of the people of South Punjab will be resolved and he was happy to see that the hospital has earned a name for itself in a very short period of time due to which not only people of different districts of south Punjab but patients from Balochistan also come to the hospital for treatment. Shehbaz Sharif said that whenever he met Turk President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, he expressed deep love for the people of Pakistan and Punjab and the Turk president extended commendable cooperation for construction of the hospital.

Shehbaz Sharif said that health sector will be improved under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and it is his promise to the people that health problems of the masses will be resolved. He said that he will not be content until health reforms are fully implemented while it will also be ensured that every penny of the funds is utilized properly.

Addressing inaugural ceremony of extension project of Recep Tayyip Erdogan Government of the Punjab Hospital Muzaffargarh, the Chief Minister said that this hospital is the best in the whole country with regard to treatment facilities, professionalism, management and service to humanity. He said that modern and quality health services are provided at the hospital due to which people of south Punjab as well as Balochistan come to the hospital.

He said that he was pleased to see the use of latest machinery for removal of kidney stone in the hospital and laser machines of this type will also be installed in Multan and other hospitals. He said that the system of provision of medicines in the hospital is excellent while doctors, staff and medicines are also available.

He said that the working of all government hospitals of the province will be improved and better medical facilities will be ensured. He said that it is essential that every citizen of the country should work with honesty and commitment for transforming Pakistan in accordance with the vision of Quaid and Iqbal.

He said that an important feature of Recep Tayyip Erdogan Government of the Punjab Hospital Muzaffargarh is that it is being operated by an NGO Indus Trust while it is being patronized by Punjab government and being provided all out resources. He said that this hospital is serving ailing humanity especially people of south Punjab efficiently. The Chief Minister said that it is his mission to come up to the expectations of ailing humanity and the working of all hospitals of the province will be improved and a revolution will be brought about in health sector.

He said that the hospital is being run in a very coordinated manner and the cleanliness conditions are the same as were three years ago when this building was constructed and despite patients, the standard of sanitation has been maintained.

Shehbaz Sharif said that he has visited Recep Tayyip Erdogan Government of the Punjab Hospital Muzaffargarh and personally observed treatment facilities and supply of medicines in outdoor and the hospital is working under an automatic system whereas other government hospitals do not even make entries in medicine register. He said that situation in other hospitals is pathetic and while medical stores are open the staff is absent. He said that Recep Tayyip Erdogan Government of the Punjab Hospital Muzaffargarh is also a public sector hospital but it is not being run by Health Department but a non-governmental organization Indus Trust.

He said that had this hospital been handed over to Health Department, the condition of the hospital would not have been any different from other government hospitals.

The Chief Minister lamented that a woman of Kasur visited four hospitals for treatment but to no avail. He said that the woman did not find ambulance for going from one hospital to another and ultimately she died on the floor of the hospital. He said that the only fault of the woman was that she was mother of a poor person and had she been the mother of a chief minister, minister, politician or an officer she would not only have received treatment but also protocol.

He said that this tragic situation will have to be changed. He said that though hospitals have resources, doctors, staff and medicines but what they lack is sympathy for humanity. He said that if this woman had gone to hospital the MS would have seated her in his room and gone to find a bed for her.

The Chief Minister said that he personally went to the house of the woman who died in the hospital and what he was told by the son of the deceased woman was heartrending.

The Chief Minister said that he was asked to name Recep Tayyip Erdogan Government of the Punjab Hospital Muzaffargarh as Shehbaz Sharif Hospital as Punjab government was to provide funds to the hospital but he said that the real benefactor should not be forgotten.

He said that Turkey is a brotherly Islamic country who has helped people of Pakistan in every hour of need and also built a splendid hospital and Recep Tayyip Erdogan Government of the Punjab Hospital Muzaffargarh is a symbol of Pak-Turk friendship. He said that he has taken up the mission of improvement of all government hospitals of the province and he will not rest content until the desired results are achieved and health sector is revolutionized.

He said that work has been started on Recep Tayyip Erdogan Government of the Punjab Hospital Muzaffargarh and will be completed by the end of current year. He said that a medical college and a nursing school will be constructed while best residential facilities will be provided to doctors and staff. He said that state-of-the-art machinery will also be brought for extension project.
