The match between PIA, studded with past and present internationals, and the young and very inexperienced Railways side was a proverbial match of two halves.
After quite an even first half, PIA, went on a rampage.
It was 3-2  after the first 30 minutes. The two time defending champions added seven goals while the hapless railways boys could score only one more.
The opening half saw a very entertaining game with both the sides playing attacking hockey. All five goals came via open play. Railways surprised by going ahead in the seventh minute. Within two minutes, PIA went ahead with goals scored in rapid succession.
The railways youngsters made it 2-2 in the 21st minute but before the first half hooter, PIA were again in front.
The PIA side, who have been playing together for a long time, employed all their experience in the second half to wreak havoc on the railways.
