Mr Olympia Naveed Butt calls on DG Sports Punjab

Lahore :Director General Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghumman Thursday renewed his pledge to clean the sport of bodybuilding from the use of illegal and banned medicines which are harmful for sportspersons.

He was talking to three time Mr Olympia and once Mr World gold medallist Naveed Ahmed Butt.

Naveed recently won his third natural Mr Olympia 2016 title in American state of Las Vegas. This polio-hit Lahore based bodybuilder Naveed spent his entire life for the national cause and was now rewarded by Sports Board Punjab.

The DG not only praised his efforts for winning the medal but declared his endeavour as a great achievement for him and as well as the country.

As a reward, Zulfiqar Ghumman immediately awarded Naveed Rs 10,000 and promised the sports board’s complete support in his next title achievement.

He said that sports board will bear all the expenses of Naveed Butt’s next competition, which is to be held in New Zealand.

The DG said that Naveed is a role model for the youth of the country and warned the bodybuilders who are using banned medicines for overnight results but ultimately injure themselves. “Our foremost priority is to clean the sport of bodybuilding from the use of steroids and other banned medicines,” said the DG.

On his part Naveed Butt thanked the support extended by Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghumman and also lauded the work of the DG for the promotion of sports in the province.

Naveed also promised to bring smile on the faces of the nation by winning the coming Mr Universe 2017 competition to be held in New Zealand. “I will be working out day and night to bring another title for the country,” he added.
