The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria lauds PITB’s Hajj management system

nigeria-flag-bannerLahore : The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has approached Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony for developing an Information & Communication Technology (ICT) platform replica devised by Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for Pakistan’s Hajj operations, exercised during the recent Hajj management, which was overall widely lauded by majority of the pilgrims.

PITB’s electronic Hajj management system has improved the services for intending pilgrims and curtailed the delays. PITB’s input is extended at every step of Hajj operations. During the recent past eight Banks with their 7500 branches and respective 15000 Bank officials were involved for online registration for 10 days through a centralized system of PITB connected with VPN without a single second down time and balloting in 45 minutes time on the completion of 10 days registration period, which earlier used to take three months. The recent Hajj operation witnessed 280,617 entries declaring around 69534 successful. The balloting took place on group leader basis, resulting 17213 groups successful. During 2015 PITB launched this management system, which was further improved for 2016’s Hajj operations.

PITB’s Hajj management system also includes flight scheduling and building allocations within a shortest span of two days.

The Nigeria’s National Hajj Commission has termed PITB’s Hajj management system as robust pilgrim friendly ICT applications. NAHCON’s delegation twice visited Pakistan’s Hajj Mission in Makkah for study of Hajj operations this year. They have sought assistance on the software development and capacity training for Nigerian Hajj Mission.
