Government to establish web radio in Baluchistan to counter Indian propaganda : Saba Mohsin

In an exclusive interview with IMI here at Islamabad, the Federal Secretary Ministry of Information & Broadcasting said that preparations were at final stage to launch web radio in Baluchistan and effective strategy has been devised for its launching as soon as possible.

This web radio, she said, would highlight importance of $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its benefits for Baluchistan and other parts of Pakistan as well as countering Indian propaganda against Pakistan and safeguarding national interest. She said the radio would soon start its operation.

Replying to a question, she said the government already started installation of 40 new transmitters at different important places across the country. in order to modernize its system. “We will also install transmitters at Thandiani enabling listeners to have access with Radio transmission in Hazara division to bordering areas,” she added.

Some transmitters, have been installed for Quran recitation programmes. The Secretary Information said that her Ministry is working on innovative ideas for reviving Radio Pakistan. To improve current affairs programmes, federal and provincial ministers and opinion makers prominent personalities are being invited to participate in such programmes on daily basis.

In order to solve financial problems, she said that newly appointed DG of Radio Pakistan has been directed to devise new business plan. Hopefully new plan would be made operative in December this Year. It would play a key role to revive the Radio and bringing back its targeted audience, she added.

“It’s the biggest challenge and we are working on short, medium and long term plans to revive PTV under which modern equipment, filming new dramas, musical and Tasawwuf related programmes would be aired,” she said. Instead relying on private production, there is need to ensure our own production in all areas, she said.

In order to attract viewership, old dramas of PTV would be mixed with new trends for re-launching. We are airing informative and productive TV programmes on CPEC, Indian brutalities in Indian Held Kashmir and Pakistan’s stance on this particular issue including other issues of national importance and sovereignty. Her Ministry, she said, was ready and fully equipped to give befitting response to Indian propaganda at all international forums. “We are lobbying at international foras to give India an effective response,” she added.

To a query regarding govt and media relationship, she said that the government enjoying cordial relationship with media and new information minister was quite friendly with media. We will facilitate media at all levels and if the media was facing any problem they could directly contact to our office.

To another query regarding plot allotments to working journalists and media workers, she said that the authenticated list of Press Information Department was sent out to Chairman Allotment Committee Sheraz Latif and they would ensure merit and transparency in allotment of plots to media persons in upcoming sectors of the federal capital. If any media person has genuine complaint, she would resolve the issue and would make all out efforts to ensure plot allotment on merit so that deserving persons could get their due right
