Women-on-Wheels project is being launched in Rawalpindi today

women-on-wheelsLahore : Chief Minister’s Special Monitoring Unit (Law & Order) is launching its Women-on-Wheels project in Rawalpindi today.

Senior Member Special Monitoring Unit Salman Sufi informed that this project will be launched in collaboration with City Traffic Police and City District Government Rawalpindi.

He said that this project has been launched in Sargodha, Faisalabad, Lahore and Multan where approximately 1500 women have received the training.

The aim of the project is to provide training of driving motorcycle to the women and create awareness of socio-economic autonomy among them as women are an important part of the society.

Salman Sufi said that due to this project, instead of relying on men, women will be able to do their job through motorcycle driving. He said that Punjab government is taking necessary steps for empowering women. He said that maximum participation of women will be ensured for training of driving in Rawalpindi and this launch will be held at the National College of Arts, Liaqatbagh Road. He said that 70 women have been registered for training. DCO Rawalpindi will also participate in the function.
