Government to take notice of deteriorating state of agriculture : Haji Zaman Ranjha

government-to-take-notice-of-deteriorating-state-of-agriculture-haji-zaman-ranjhaMandi Bahauddin (Sher Gondal) : President Kisan Wing Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society Mandi Bahauddin Haji Zaman Ranjha has urged government to take notice of deteriorating state of agriculture and resolve farmers’ problems on priority basis.

He was talking to media persons here the other day. Kisan wing secretary Mukhtar Virk was accompanying him. He said agriculture is victim of government apathy which is very unfortunate for the farmers’ community and country economy as a whole.

He said because of poor maintenance of irrigation system farmers are facing acute shortage of water. Prices of inputs are increasing and the traders have made cartel to sell pesticides and fertilizers at higher rates. On the other hand government do not fix price of agriculture produce as compared to price of inputs and farmers labor. He said government is treating industrialists its darling as they are being given all concessions and benefits of their choice.

He asked the government to fix rate for industrialists and traders to purchase sugarcane and Basmati at rate of Rs 250 and 2000 respectively. Besides, measures should be introduced to stop industrialists and traders to exploit farmers, he demanded.
