Livestock Department organizes Milk Conference in Mandi Bahauddin

livestock-mandi-bahauddin-malik-conference Mandi Bahauddin (Sher Gondal) : District Livestock Department held Milk Conference on Saturday here at District Jinnah Hall. Framers from each union council attended the conference.

Secretary Livestock Punjab Sardar Ashiq Hussain Dogar was the Chief Guest. DCO Muzaffar Khan Sial, SPO Omer Salamat, EDO (Agriculture) Mian Abdul Rasheed. DLO Dr. Mumtaz Beg and District President Kisan Board were also present in the conference.livestock-mandi-bahauddin

Speaking to the conference, the chief guest highlighted importance of hygienic milk for healthy society. He said adulterated milk causes very serious deceases. Therefore milkers should keep their animal clean and before milking udder should be washed and cleaned to avoid bacteria entering into milk. Barn and bedding of animals should be cleaned. Milker should also clean and dry hands with trimmed nails before milking and avoid fisting teats. Similarly utensils for handling milk must be cleaned.

On complaints from the farmers, the chief guest said measures were in hand to fix prices of Wanda. He said dealers were in habit of adulterating of Wands and Khal and to check this malpractice the government would arrange checking of stores to ensuresupply of unadulterated Wanda to farmers. He said DCOs in Punjab would be requested to rehabilitate village ponds to meet watering and bathing of animals. He announced to grant loans to milk sellers (Gawalas) for purchasing motorcycles for transporting milk from farms to markets. He urged them to transport milk in clean containers and stop entering external parasites like flies and mosquitoes’ in the containers.

He asked farmers to form associations at union council level to fix price of the milk. These associations should also install milk chilling plants in each union council or village and for that Government would provide them loan.

About veterinary services, the chief guest said that veterinary assistants have been posted in all union councils and they have been provided motorcycles for visiting places where the animals are reported sick. He said mobile veterinary dispensaries are also operating in tehsils for treating the animals at farm houses. Adequate stock of medicines are available in veterinary hospitals and dispensaries and medicines are given free of cost.
