Crime cases of kidnapping rising in Punjab

Shahbaz SharifLahore : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has taken strict notice of rising crime cases of kidnapping in the province.

To overcome the situation, the chief minister called an emergent meeting and reviewed law and order situation and steps for elimination of crime.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that protection of life and property of citizens is the top priority of the government and vigorous efforts should be made for rooting out crime especially kidnapping of children. He said that the gang involved in kidnapping of children should be traced and made an example. He said that cases of kidnapping should be analyzed and special teams should be constituted for unearthing the criminals involved and a report should be submitted within seven days regarding progress on the case.

The Chief Minister consoled the parents of the kidnapped children who were also present in the meeting and assured them safe recovery of their children. He said that he fully realized the agony of the parents of the kidnapped children and no efforts will be spared for their recovery. He directed that an effective strategy should be adopted for curbing incidents of kidnapping.

Shahbaz Sharif further said that he was deeply grieved over the loss of precious human lives due to one-wheeling and effective measures are necessary for checking this trend. He expressed strong indignation over failure to take timely action to control one-wheeling and directed that Cabinet Committee should review the report of the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team and identify the officials guilty of laxity in curbing one-wheeling. He warned that stern action will be taken against police officers concerned if any case of one-wheeling took place in future. He said that an effective strategy should be evolved to control one-wheeling before August 14.

Shahbaz Sharif further directed that special attention should be paid to the security of bus stands, railways stations and other busy places. Inspector General Police and Secretary Home gave a briefing on law and order situation.

IG Police informed that street crime and other incidents have decreased while special teams have been set up for controlling kidnapping. He said that all out resources are being utilized for rooting out crime. Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Secretary Home and senior Police officers attended the meeting. Parents of children kidnapped for Badami Bagh were also present on the occasion.
