Motorways police return Rs 3.6 Million overcharged to Passengers

Lahore : The National Highways & Motorway Police, Central Zone has made transport owner to pay back Rs 36, 26787 overcharged from them to passengers during recent vacations of Eid days. This was stated by DIG Mirza Faran Baig while making surprise checking of overcharging in buses on national highways near Thoker Niaz Baig, Lahore. The central zone returned an overly charged amount of about 3.6 Million to 22,301 passengers and imposed fine on violations to 8438 vehicles. Similarly, Motorway Police imposed fine amounted 53, 77650 (About 5.3 Million) to public service vehicles and off loaded 227 vehicles in the violations of overcharging and overloading.

The Motorway Police has initiated stern action against buses ,  coaches and other PSVs   in Lahore, Manga Mandi, Pattoki, Sahiwal , Multan , Okara, Khanewal, Lodhran, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan, and other  major cities   on the complaints of overcharging and has taken all possible steps to reimburse extra fare to the passengers. The police were also charged fine to the vehicles for overcharging as well other legal action. The passengers were also appreciated and prayed the NH&MP s initiative and stern action against overcharging.  The citizens were also acknowledged the motorway police action against the public transport vehicles involved in overcharging. The passengers appreciated the NH&MP s initiative. The performance of Motorway Police Help Line 130 was fabulous as they facilitated the thousands of passengers in distress and in the case of overcharging said by the civil society while observing the campaign by NH&MP.
