Lahore : Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that every brick used in development projects in Pakistan carries the name of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Addressing PML-N workers here at Islamgarh late Sunday night, the minister said from Peshawar to Lahore and Gwadar to Khunjrab all the highway projects had been envisioned and built by Nawaz Sharif.
Now a motorway was being built from Lahore to Karachi and the credit for which went to none other than Nawaz Sharif, he said, adding nobody could point the finger on the transparency of energy projects and motorways construction.
Pervaiz Rashid said the AJK people should use their right to franchise justly. Chaudhry Abdul Majeed should accept his defeat against PML-N candidate Nazir Inquilabi as every voter on July 21 would stamp the symbol of ‘Tiger’ on the ballot paper.
The confidence reposed by the people of Mirpur and whole AJK in the PML-N would be acknowledged, he added.
He said the sacrifices of Mirpur people were unmatched, but they had been kept deprived of basic facilities such as electricity, gas, jobs and education.
He said they had to leave their lands first for building of the Mangla Dam and then its upraising. The dam was playing an important role in the development of Pakistan and every Pakistani should be thankful to the Mirpur people. But the dam’s benefits were not shared with the locals. They had to remain in darkness and go abroad to earn livelihood while the power generated by the dam was benefiting the whole Pakistan, he added.
He said since 1970s Sardar Attique, Barrister Sultan and PPP ‘Jialas’ (die-hards) had ruled the AJK, but they did nothing for the welfare of people.
The minister said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) remained in power in Pakistan for five years but it had badly failed to deliver. Not a single power unit was launched during their tenure, he added.
Similarly, he said its man Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, who had been AJK prime minister for almost five years, had also failed to deliver. No development work could be witnessed from Bhimber to Muzaffarabad, Rawlakot and Mirpur despite the grant of Rs 300 billion given by the federal government. The amount was rather wasted on buying new vehicles and ‘lavish’ visits abroad. Even Rs 600 billion given to such government would have been misappropriated, he added.
The minister said Pakistan had been facing the menace of terrorism but the PPP during its government did not devise an effective strategy to overcome it. The government of this party in AJK even did not provide the basic amenities to the people and now its leaders were seeking their votes, he added.
He said the PML-N was contesting elections to serve the Kashmiri masses whose rights had been usurped. The party after coming to power, would launch development works in valley on its own, he added.
He said the country had a shortfall of about 5,000 MW electricity and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had launched power projects of over 12,000 MW capacity to fulfill even future requirements.
Pervaiz Rashid said not a single penny corruption was done in mega projects built by the PML-N government in Punjab. The people of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkwa envied on such development works,he added.
He recalled that it was the PML-N leadership, who foiled all conspiracies hatched by some people to topple the government of Chaudhry Abdul Majeed as they did not believe in such ‘dirty games’. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif even gave funds for metro bus and water projects in Sindh province, which was ruled by PPP, he added.
Similarly, he said, the PML-N government announced provision of electricity and gas connections to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf was in power. He reiterated that the AJK people should get rid of corrupt and inefficient rulers by voting for PML-N candidates on July 21.The PML-N was the only party which would remove their sense of deprivations, he added.
