Standing Committee on Ports and Shipping welcome he new minister Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo

Mir Hasil Khan BizenjoLahore : 29th meeting of the Standing Committee on Ports and Shipping was held at Committee Room No. 05, Parliament House, Islamabad today, under the Chairmanship of Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, MNA. The agenda of the meeting was as under:-

Status updates of all Development Projects of Ministry of Ports & Shipping.

The Members of the Standing Committee on Ports and Shipping warmly welcomed the new minister for Ports & Shipping, Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo.

The Chairman Standing Committee said that standing committees work as ears and eyes to the ministries and it is the resolve of the members to help the ministry in getting over different kind of obstacles and hurdles.

The Minister expressed his gratitude on the welcoming remarks and said that on the recommendation of the Committee and the efforts put in by the ministry, the shipping line which was facing difficulty in attracting ships because of 37% to 38% taxes levied upon the registration of ships; these taxes has been waived off by the Government and this will boost the shipping business in years to come.

13 proposed major schemes of Ports & Shipping which included construction of Mehran Highway Phase-(III), Provision of Coal Conveying System from Pakistan International Bulk Terminal (PIBT) to Railway Network at Port Qasim, upgradation and accreditation of Quality Control Laboratories of MFD for Environment Contamination, Establishment of Regional Offices and Testing Laboratories of MFD at Gwadar, Balochistan, Establishment of Regional Offices and Testing Laboratories of MFD at Peshawar, KPK, Purchase of full Mission Bridge and Engine Room Simulators for PMA; have been approved and included in the current budget 2016-17.

The Committee unanimously recommended that the Economic Affairs Division (EAD) to pursue vigorously the funding for all projects related to China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Meeting was attended by the Members (MNAs) namely, Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari,Ch. Hamid Hameed, Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan, Mehar Ishtiaq Ahmad,Ms. Seema Mohiuddin Jameeli, Ms. Shaheen Shafiq, Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, Pir Muhammad Aslam Bodla,  Khalil George, Lal chand Malhi, Muhammad Salman Khan Balcoh, Muhammad Jamal ud Din, Malik Muhammad Aamir Dogar, Kanwar Naveed Jameel Secretary, M/o  Ports & Shipping and other senior officers from the ministry attended the meeting.
