Ghari Shahu Bridge to be rebuild

ACS Punjab Shumail Ahmad KhawajaLahore : A meeting of Special Cabinet Committee on Rehabilitation of “Ghari Shahu Bridge” was held today at Civil Secretariat Lahore. Additional Chief Secretary Punjab (ACS) Shamail Ahmad Khawaja was in chair.

The committee thrashed out in detail the project of rehabilitation through replacement of expansion joints and laying out new asphalt carpet on Ghari Shahu Bridge to improve its riding quality besides widening of approach roads both at Allama Iqbal Road and GT Road terminals which will totally cost Rs.200 million approximately.

Additional Chief Secretary Shamail Ahmad Khawaja directed the Chief Engineer NESPAK Azhar Masood to revise the detailed design of the project and prepare a final project which would be within a cost of Rs.200 million. This revised plan will be presented to the Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for final approval and funding through CM’s Special Projects, the ACS added.

Commissioner Lahore Division Abdullah Khan Sumbal, DCO Lahore Capt. Retd. Muhammad Usman, Divisional Superintendent Pakistan Railways Lahore, Additional Secretaries of C&W, LG&CD, S&GAD and Finance Department participated besides a senior representative of LDA to give their input in this project.
