Lahore : British High Commissioner Thomas Drew met Central PML(N) Leader and Member National Assembly Hamza Shahbaz. Matters of mutual interest, relations between Pakistan and Britain and promotion of cooperation in different sectors were discussed in the meeting. British High Commissioner congratulated Hamza Shahbaz on the recovery of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Talking to British High Commissioner, Hamza Shahbaz said that Pakistan and Britain are strong partners in different fields and ties between the two countries are strengthening with the passage of time. He said that present government, especially in Punjab, under-taking different projects speedily in the fields of education, health and other public sectors. Hamza Shahbaz said that by the year 2018 all major issues including loadshedding would be tackled. He lauded the cooperation by DFID and expressed hope that in future more joint ventures would be initiated.
British High Commissioner Thomas Drew, while speaking in the meeting said that Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken a number of public welfare-oriented projects which would help in upgrading the standard of common man. He assured all out cooperation from UK, in this regard. Director DFID Ben French was also present in the meeting.
