Audit of the government is essential to save the democratic system : Siraj ul Haq

Siraj ul Haq addressing iftar programme at manawanLahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq has said that the audit of the democratic government was essential to save the democratic system. He was speaking at an Iftar party hosted in his honour at Manawan. He also talked to the media on the occasion.

The JI chief said that 14 workers of the PAT were killed at Model Town about two years back but the judiciary had failed to do justice in this case. Due to this, the masses had been  disappointed from the present judicial system and were looking up to the military courts for justice

He said that every Chief Justice of the country, after his retirement, had admitted the weaknesses of the judicial system in dispensing justice. He said the present Chief Justice of Pakistan was strongly criticizing the judiciary and the judicial system during his service.  However, he said, the question was as to who would correct this faulty system.

The JI chief said that the rulers would never be ready for their accountability. He said that a poor man had to spend all his belongings and run from one and to the other end for  justice but he did not succeed. On the other hand, the affluent purchased justice through their wealth.

Sirajul Haq said that so far, the government had failed to set up the judicial commission , but added that such delaying tactics and ad-hoc measures won’t save it. He said that matter was not with the government or the opposition, it was with the masses and they would not  allow anyone to run away.  He said the present rulers would have to make some sacrifice to escape from the public wrath. He said thought there was delay in the divine order , there  was not injustice for good. He said if someone believed that he would be able to save his ill gotten wealth and skin, he was mistaken. Therefore, he said, the sooner the rulers presented themselves for accountability, the better.

Meanwhile; Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq while talking to Hurriat leaders said that the Pakistani nation stood shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiris till the liberation of Kashmir.

Senior Hurriat leader and Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM), Zafar Akbar Butt, who called on him at Mansoora on Saturday. Vice Chairman of the JKSM Altaf Ahmed Butt was also present at the meeting.

Sirajul Haq said that the unity of the Hurriat groups was the crying need of the hour and assured that the JI would play its full role in this respect. He said the Kashmiris had been offering unparalleled sacrifices for freedom during the last 70 years.  The people of Pakistan had never disassociated themselves from the Kashmiris liberation movement. He said the role of the Hurriat Conference leaders in the liberation m struggle was highly valuable. However, the differences among the Hurriat leaders were harmful for the movement. He said in the past, the JI leadership had made several appeals to the Hurriat leaders to sink their differences and stand united.

Sirajul Haq said it was the duty of the Azad Kashmir government to extend full support to the liberation struggle. He said that Azad Kashmir was expected to serve as Base Camp of the liberation movement but all past governments in Azad Kashmir had failed in this respect.

Speaking on the occasion. Zafar Akbar Butt commended the role of the JIP in the Kashmir liberation movement and said the Kashmiris acknowledged that. He appealed to the JI leadership to apprise the Pakistani nation of the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir through its network in the country. He said that the situation in Kashmir had worsened recently and India was trying to end the Muslim majority in Kashmir.

Sirajul Haq welcomed the JKSM leader and said that his visit had greatly helped the JI in knowing the actual situation in the valley. The JI chief also handed over him a message for the veteran Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Gilani.
