ACM Core Group members hold a meeting in Mandi Bahauddin

ACM Core Group members hold a meetingMandi Bahauddin: ( Sher Gondal) : Anti-Corruption Movement (ACM) Core Group members held a meeting on Friday here at its office and reviewed ACM anti –corruption activities carried out since its formation on Pakistan Day 23 March.

The meeting expressed its satisfaction on performance and appreciated workers for creating awareness among masses about dangerous consequences of corruption for the society and country. Addressing the meeting senior member of the core group Manzoor Tarar Advocate said the punishment for corrupt is hell as per Quran. But in our Islamic country there is no punishment for the corrupt, he regretted.

He asked the workers to form small teams and start visiting villages, Mohallahs and tell the people not to submit to illegal demands of corrupt officials for relief.  He also asked to use their votes in favor of honest, sincere and competent candidates when elections are held. This was the safe and effective way to end corruption, he reiterated.

Bashir Butt Advocate said he never saw any corrupt persons including government functionaries being punished for corruption, hoarding and profiteering in this district. The laws for dealing with corrupt and looters are lenient in nature and the culprits safely escape prosecution. He demanded legislation for awarding death sentence to those found meddling with their authorities and government funds.

Referring to recently setup Ramadan Bazaars, Secretary Kisan Wing Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society (PESS) Mukhtar Virk said they were mainly for giving publicity to rulers. He said pan flex banners carrying pictures of Khadim e Allaha, MNAs, MPAs and Officers of district Administration were more in number than the stalls set up there.

He said all government functionaries were deployed on supervision of the bazaars and there is no one in the offices to deal with matters of public interest. He said food and vegetable items in the bazaars were also not cheaper nor were they better in quality as compared with open market. He demanded closing of the bazaars.

The meeting decided that workers would continue creating awareness among the public and providing social support to victims of corruption during sacred month of Ramadan. After Ramadan, rallies and meetings with government officers would be arranged for reining in the corruption.
