paediatric cancer unit of Children Hospital is being upgraded : Najam Shah

Najam Ahmed ShahLahore: The extension project of Children Hospital has been completed and the hospital capacity has been raised from 250 to 684 beds. The new block include 16 operation theaters.

It was informed in a meeting chaired by the Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Najam Ahmed Shah in his office, here today. Dean Institute of Child Health & Children Hospital Prof. Dr. Masood Sadiq, Medical Director Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore, Additional Secretary Development Zaheer Abbas Malik, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti and other concerned officers attended the meeting. Prof. Ahsan Rathore informed that the total expenditure occurred on the extension of Children Hospital is Rs. 3.75 billion.

He informed that new block has 16 operation theaters. Medical equipment and Bio-Medical instruments have been reached in the hospital which are being installed. He said that recruitments process of doctors and other supporting staff has been completed.

Dean Children Hospital Prof. Masood Sadiq informed that the process of installation of medical equipment and other minor formalities would be completed by the month of August 2016. Secretary Specialized Healthcare Najam Ahmed Shah said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif would be invited to inaugurate the extended block of Children Hospital.

Najam Ahmed Shah directed to shift the system of the hospital on information technology. He said that after functioning of the extended block of the hospital, medical treatment facilities for the children would be enhanced manifold and 16 operation theaters would also reduce the waiting list of procedures. He disclosed that paediatric cancer unit of Children Hospital is also being upgraded for which government has released funds of Rs.230 million.
