Govt to bear expenses of heart surgery of tennis star Saeed Mir

tennis star Saeed MirLahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has approved payment of Rs 1.8 million as expenses for the heart surgery of former Tennis Champion of Pakistan Saeed Meer.

“On the directions of the Prime Minister the government will bear the expenses worth Rs 1.8 million,” a statement from the PM House said Thursday.

The Prime Minister praised Saeed Mir’s services for tennis in Pakistan, the statement said.

Saeed Meer was a unbeaten National Hard court, Grass and Clay court Championship,Winner of Third World Invitation Classic, First Gold Medalist from Pakistan at the Islamic Games Championship (1980), Winner of West of England Championship, Winner of East of England Championship , Record number of victories by any Pakistani Player, Winner of PIONEER Insurance Classic Tennis, Qualified for Kent Masters 100,000 Dollars Tournament.

He reputed to be the highest paid sportsmen in the Third World.His victories detail is written below.

– J.Feaver and J.Clifton (British Davis Cup players)
