Ex-servicemen criticize NAB and Anti Corruption Authorities for failing to control corruption

Sher GondalMandi Bahauddin: Ex-servicemen in a meeting criticized NAB and Anti Corruption Authorities for failing to control corruption in government institutions and government departments. Major (Retd) Sher Gondal District President Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society Mandi Bahauddin Chapter said corruption is ram-pant and Institutions responsible for preventing corruption hardly award punishment to accused involved in corrupt practices. He said rather these authorities make deal with culprits and after recovering small portion of stolen national wealth cleared the culprits. Similarly judiciary also takes lenient view and set free the government officials and politicians despite their proved guilt. He said corruption is silent killer of society and this menace should be eliminated for integrity and stability of the country. Speaking about efforts of NAB to create awareness among public to curb corruption he said these efforts are limited to only women school and colleges located at Major Cities of the country. He said national newspapers occasionally carried stories of lectures delivered by Director General (Awareness and prevention) National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Aliya Rashid at women universities or colleges. He said this effort and dissemination of message “say no to corruption’ through postage stamp, utility bills will hardly achieve purpose of preventing corruption. There must be monthly meetings at district level where all stake holders should gather and point out reasons for corruption in their respective districts and recommend measure to remove those reasons, he demanded.
