Kasur, Muzaffargarh and Rawalpindi will be made violence-free districts for women

hameeda waheed ud dinLahore: Provincial Minister for Women Development, Hameeda Waheed ud Din has said that after Kasur, Muzaffargarh and Rawalpindi will also be made violence-free districts for women.

She was talking to Resident Director Aurat Foundation Mumtaz Mughal and Zohra Bano of OXFAM, here today. Provincial Secretary Bushra Aman was also present on the occasion.

Hameeda Waheed ud Din said that government has taken various measures for the economic empowerment of women and positive results are being witnessed. She said that gender discrimination will be eliminated with the implementation of the laws formulated for the protection of women and they will be able to play an active role for the development of the country. She said that women are actively serving in public and private sectors throughout the province.

Representatives of OXFAM and Aurat Foundation briefed the Minister regarding ongoing projects with the cooperation of Women Development Department including training of women parliamentarians in information technology under the aegis of women caucus, awareness campaign regarding rights of women and the steps for the elimination of gender discrimination.
