A news regarding this meeting aired by TV channels on May 8th and published by newspapers on May 9th, the news included alleged specific quotes of the Prime Minister regarding the government’s position on current political issues. The news is baseless and concocted.
It has been observed that it has become a practice for correspondents of TV channels, news agencies and newspapers to do a story on the weekends, when the Prime Minister visits Lahore to spend some time with his family including his mother and brother. Making stories out of such routine family gatherings is highly inappropriate.
It is unfortunate that on this weekend too, no official of the PM’s Office or Ministry of Information, Broadcasting & NH was contacted to confirm the veracity of contents of the news stories.
It is requested that the news outlets may refrain from airing or publishing such baseless stories. Officials of the PM’s Office or the M/o Information, Broadcasting & NH including Secretary I,B&NH and Principal Information Officer (PIO) may kindly be contacted for confirmation of such news before broadcasting or publishing it.
