CCPO Lahore office has been incorporated to all the six police divisions

Dr Umar SaifLahore: Chairman Punjab IT Board (PITB) Dr. Umar Saif said that the city police would be inter-connected through a video conferencing network to conduct their official meetings and similar tasks. Addressing a meeting at Arfa Software Technology Park on Monday, Dr. Saif said “The office of the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore has been incorporated to all the six police divisions of the city through video conferencing while the practice will be extended to 20 sites by the next week and finally to all the 84 police stations.”

He said that the tech initiative would save a lot of time and money incurred in the mobility of senior officers and other staff from one place to the other for departmental meetings and other necessary duties. But now all officers may discuss the matters and take decisions while sitting in their offices.  “Seeing the other person with videoconferencing instead of just hearing their voice helps to increase trust and leads to a more productive conversation. It will increase presence, and business continuity of the police. The system is highly cost effective as it is already saving tens of millions of Punjab government in conducting successful meetings among the CM, DCO’s and DPO’s across the province.”

Dr. Saif said that the Lahore city is a large metropolitan having about 12 million population and 1772 Sq. kilometer area. “Punjab Police is facing acute shortage of staff and other resources so the step will be helpful in overcoming such flaws. It will increase the efficiency of Police that will result in reducing the crime rate.” He hoped that the video conferencing system would be extended to the entire Punjab after its success in Lahore.
