Senate Human Rights Committee to visit Thar: Pakistan Hindu Council

Pakistan Hindu Council vows to support minorities candidates regardless of faithLahore: Patron-in-chief of Pakistan Hindu Council and Member National Assembly Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani has endorsed the news report in which it was stated that “The Senate Human Rights Committee members were shocked to know that the Sindh government had spent an ‘incredible’ amount of money on relief activities but there were no records to confirm that relief had actually reached affected people.”

Dr. Ramesh Vankwani, who also represents Thar in the National Assembly, said that Pakistan Hindu Council has been recording protest and raising voice to highlight crucial law and order situation along with questionable relief activities going on in Thar since long time. He was of the view that lawlessness and bullying is being promoted under the supervision of PPP local leaders Faqeer Sher Mohammad MNA, and Mahesh Kumar Malani MPA, which has further engraved the situation of uncertainty in Sindh particularly in Thar and UmarKot. “Government of Sindh is paying no attention and due to this, minorities are also suffering very badly,” he added. He also expressed his extreme anger on the illegal hunt of of rare deer by PPP law makers, including Faqeer Sher Mohammad MNA from Tharparkar, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah MNA from Nawab Shah, and Sardar Nawab Khan Chandio.

“I totally agree that if we go by the figures submitted by the Sindh government officials, everyone out of the 1.3 million residents of Thar…would have enough wheat to last for six months,” Dr. Ramesh quoted the statement attributed to one of the Senators present in the committee meeting.

He said that corruption is at its peak in such ongoing fake relief activities. In addition, he requested to Prime Minister of Pakistan to take immediate notice of all the findings of Senate Committee on Human Rights for taking strict measures against the responsible for such dreadful crimes.

Dr Ramesh also invited the Senate Committee members on Human Rights to visit Thar in person to observe the miserable life there. He further revealed a surprising fact that media is prohibited to get real coverage of the actual situation of Thar, and announced his willingness to arrange a media tour as well.
