First phase of Punjab Safe City Project completed : Rana Sana

Rana Sanaullah KhanLahore: Provincial Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan has said that protection of life and property of the people is included in top priorities of the government. He said that Punjab Safe City Project will prove to be a milestone in curbing crimes including street crime.

He said that government has tendered this project on very transparent and best conditions. He said that Command and Control Center at Lahore will become operational by October 5 this year. The scope of this center will be extended throughout the province after Multan, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala, he added.

He was presiding over a meeting regarding completion of first phase and start of practical phase of Punjab Safe City Project at 90 Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam, here today. Special Assistant to Chief Minister Rana Maqbool, Members Provincial Assembly Jahangir Khanzada, Uzma Bukhari, Secretary Home, Secretary Information, IG Punjab, MD Safe Cities Authority Malik Ali Aamir, Chief Operating Officer Akbar Nasir Khan and others were present on the occasion.

Akbar Nasir Khan presented a review report of ongoing work on Safe City Project. Rana Sanaullah said that more than eight thousand cameras will installed at different places besides installation of cameras at secret places for purging Lahore of crimes. Similarly, about 300 public address systems will also be installed, he added.

Rana Sanaullah said that monitoring of Muharram-ul-Harram will be carried out through Safe City Project this year. He said that Commissioner Office Interagency will play the role of focal office for coordination in this regard. He said that survey has been completed for setting up of command & control centers in Multan, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala while process of allotment of land is continuing. He told that command & control center Lahore will be technologically operational at a cost of 120 million dollars.

Rana Sanaullah said that crime rate will reduce in Lahore due to this project. He said that in case of any incident, emergency respond time will also reduce under this project. In the end, Rana Sanaullah paid tributes on behalf of Chief Minister to the members of Safe City Authorities for their untiring efforts, devotion and honesty.
