kids of less privileged schools and communities join for joys

CSR 1 CSR 2Lahore (Parvez Jamil) : When kids of less privileged schools and communities join for joys of educational and recreational rejuvenation it is indeed a matter of an able, noble, humble and gentle CSR endeavor from the concerned organizers. And when the organizers are themselves students planning, organizing and coordinating towards a better and brighter quality of life for the impoverished, it becomes a simple little humble example for the nation to emulate. Same is true of the IoBM students Society for Welfare and Trust (SWAT), where students, besides excelling in studies, have silently become humble models in altruistic and philanthropic work for the deprived and deserving kids.

SWAT’s  recent March 23 Pakistan Days Sports event was to reach out to less-privileged children and provide them with blissful memories to cherish instilling the essence of patriotism among them by being responsible citizens of Pakistan, educating them on basic mannerism and hygiene by professional doctors and devoting a day where they of healthy sports events and activities for them.

Sports Day comprised races in which more than 200 students belonging to government schools around the Ibrahim Hyderi area competed. Tthere were rides and other exciting attractions like a jumping castle, pirate ship, candy floss stall and a magic show to keep the kids entertained throughout the day. To make their day even more joyous, kids were given several gifts like goody bags, coloring books, flavored milk as well as a scrumptious lunch. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony in which every participating student was given a medal. Trophies were awarded to top three positions in races and a special award was presented to the most jubilant team of the day.

The biggest initiative which SWAT had taken was to induct students from the underprivileged sector who are intelligent and deserve to get high level education but cannot afford it. SWAT planned to give them free education so SWAT conducted an induction test in which more than 250 students were enrolled and later on passed for the admission test of Creek High School.  Students who passed SWAT’s introductory test were later enenrolled for Creek High School’s Admission test. As many as 62 students who passed were provided with free education in CHS with free basic school needs like Uniform, Course books and free transportation.

SWAT children, in collaboration with Indus hospital also initiated a blood collection campaign within the premises of IoBM where a benchmark was set and achieved of collecting 111 Blood bags donated by the students. Blood collection campaign was followed by an awareness and Seminar in which positive and inspiring views was expressed about donating the blood.  The donors had to go through various tests including questionnaires and hemoglobin test before donating blood.  Students love for humanity and hard work and dedication of SWAT team made it possible for Indus Hospital to collect 111 Blood bags in just a single day.

IoBM’s society, SWAT, conducted two successful drives that were aimed at providing basic necessities to the calamity struck people in Thar. Madam Sabina Mohsin (Executive Director Administration, IoBM) and SWAT’s faculty advisor Mr. Maqbool-ur-Rehman accompanied students during the relief program to Thar. IoBM’s SWAT society visited 8-10 villages. The aid provided by the IoBM benefited countless children affectees of Thar for they were given basic food items including bread, water, and medicine.
