Salman Sufi briefs the Americans about Punjab women protection bill

Salman SufiLahore: Senior Member Special Monitoring Unit Law & Order, Salman Sufi has said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab government is making all out efforts for unanimous Women Protection Bill for controlling incidents of violence against women.

He expressed these views while addressing separate seminars at Howard University Pakistani forum and Canady School. Salman Sufi also gave briefing on the bill at Howard University and Canady School.

The participants expressed keen interest in the project of SMU and preparation of women protection bill at Pakistani Forum of Howard University and Canady School.

They said that projects like women protection bill are inevitable and there is no example in the past and added that it will yield far-reaching results. They said that aim of the bill is to ensure elimination of violence against women in Punjab. For this purpose, on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister, has been formulated and provision of justice will be ensured to the women victim of violence on a phone call under one roof. They further said that negative image of Pakistani society was presented at international level.

He thanked Howard University for appreciating women protection bill. He also said that SMU will ensure reforms in government departments and presently about 30 projects are working under this unit. In the end, Professors of Law and Public Policy of Howard University appreciated the document of women protection bill and lauded the step of Punjab government.
