IoBM’s student societies engage in career-focused activities

Lahore: The student societies of the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) keep at par with industry trends to create a knowledge-based environment by organizing events that put their managing and event management skills to the test. Such was the case when various societies of IoBM hosted three major events in April 2016. The Marketing Society of IoBM hosted ‘MS Mania’ on April 6, 2016, where the objective was to promote the positive aspects of Pakistan. Titled as “Promotion of Pakistan” the event featured a guest speaker session with UmairJaliawala, Director of The School of Leadership, who motivated the audience with his practical knowledge. Present at the occasion were Ms. Sabina Mohsin, Executive Director, IoBM; Mr. Talib S. Karim, Rector, IoBM; Ms. Amber Raza, faculty advisor, Marketing Society; and Mr. Ekhlaque Ahmed, faculty of marketing.

Where minds are important in managing an event, they also produce business ideas. The Finance Society of IoBM held the finale of the Business Plan Competition 2016 on April 16, 2016. 22 teams presented their business ideas in light of the knowledge they acquired while studying business management courses. MrTalibKarim, Rector, IoBM; along with guests including Mr. AmerSaleemQureshi, Country Head, Global Workplace Solutions – CBRE; Kamran Iqbal, Co-Founder, Creative Fish Development Labs; and Mr. JehangirParacha, CEO EngroPowergen, attended the competition. Indeed a healthy mind brings forth ideas that change the world. CBM Society of Health Managers (CSHM) led by the Health and Hospital Management Department at the IoBM organized the sixth Health Convention with the theme of ‘Safety in the Healthcare Industry’ on April 16, 2016. The event emerged as a model of experiential learning with students presenting industry-based research posters. The convention invited pharmaceutical companies including Getz Pharma, Reckitt & Benckiser, and Herbion, and leaders from the healthcare and NGO sector, including the CEO of Aman Foundation. The convention was held under the guidance of Dr. Asima Faisal, Head of Department; Dr. ShahidaMirza, senior faculty; Dr. AzeemRauf department officer; and Dr. TasmiaBilloo, President CSHM.
