Radio Pakistan to be available on mobile phones: Secretary Information

Syed Muhammad Irman GardeziLahore: All channels of Radio Pakistan would be available on mobile phones in two or three months due to hard-work by radio professionals, Secretary Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage, Syed Muhammad Irman Gardezi said on Friday.
Addressing the prize distribution ceremony at Pakistan Broadcasting Academy, he said the merit based induction would give a new lease of life to Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC).

The ceremony was held on completion  six- month training course for newly-inducted 118 sub-editors, produces, and senior broadcast engineers.

Secretary said with new inductions and provision of sophisticated equipments, Radio Pakistan would be able to be self-sufficient.He advised the new inductees to work hard and contribute as a team for Radio Pakistan. New faces, new approach will help guiding the PBC to new heights.

Secretary announced one month basic pay equivalent honorarium for faculty members of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Academy. He also allowed newly inducted officers to use hostel for three more months. He urged officers to ensure research-based programmes of Radio Pakistan to cater to the needs of audience of the contemporary era.

Newly inducted officers should equip themselves abreast to meet modern day requirements as the country’s over 60 percent population consisted of youth.The news officers of Radio Pakistan should develop a habit of research to meet modern day requirements.They should provide latest information to the people and also educate them. He expressed gratitude to Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage, Pervaiz Rashid under whose guidance and patronage recruitment in radio Pakistan was made on merit.

Syed Imran Gardezi assured that he, as chairman PBC, would extend full cooperation for reforms and improvement in this prestigious organization.
Director General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, Ms Saba Mohsin hoped that the new officers would help providing new lease of life to Radio Pakistan.

Director General PBC, Saba Mohsin Raza said new professionals would have to show commitment to enhance image of their organization. She said Radio Pakistan is a training academy which is source of information, education, and entertainment for its listeners in and outside the country. She said we shall adopt new technology to improve quality of broadcasts and provide state-of-art facilities to make it competitive organization.

She announced promotion of new officers in next grade after culmination of one year probation. New techniques would be introduced in Radio Pakistan to enable it to meet modern day challenges.
The Director General hoped that new professionals will prove an asset for the organization.
She asked the staff to work with devotion to revive glory of Radio Pakistan.
DG distributed certificates among 118 newly inducted officers on completion of six month training.

The Secretary distributed trophies among position holder officers.
Principal of the academy, Syed Khalid Waqar threw light on training of the new officers and informed that more refresher courses are also being planned at the academy for capacity building of the staff.
