UHS and Shaikh Zayed Hospital Lahore signs agreement to collaborate in medical education and research

Senator Ishaq DarLahore:  An agreement was signed here today between University of Health Sciences and Shaikh Zayed Hospital Lahore under which both the institutions will collaborate in medical education and research. Vice Chancellor UHS Maj. Gen.(R) Prof. Muhammad Aslam and Chairman and Dean Shaikh Zayed Hospital Prof. Dr. Farid Ahmad Khan signed the document.

Chairman Board of Governors UHS and Federal Minister for Finance Senator Ishaq Dar and other members of the board were also present on the occasion. Punjab government has affiliated the teaching units of Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex including Shaikh Kalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nehyan Medical and Dental College Lahore, Federal Post Graduate Medical Institute Lahore and Allied Institutions with UHS which will now be responsible for conduct of examinations and issuance of degrees to students of these institutions.

Earlier, these institutions were affiliated with Punjab University. Federal Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar while talking to media said that the agreement will benefit both institutions and progress will be made in research and medical sectors. He said that affiliation of UHS and Shaikh Zayed Hospital is natural as both the institutions are adjacent.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Aslam said that 80 institutions are affiliated with University of Health Sciences which include 34 medical colleges, 11 dental colleges, 13 nursing institutes, 20 health and post graduate institutes and two colleges of pharmacy.
