Punjab government announces 3-day mourning in connection with terrorist attack at Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park

Punjab AssemblyLahore: Punjab government has announced 3-day mourning from March 28 to March 30, 2016 on account of terrorist attack at Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, Lahore.

National flag on official buildings in Punjab will be hoisted half-mast on this occasion. A notification has been issued in this regard.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the blast at Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park. He has announced 3-day mourning throughout the province over the tragic incident and the national flag will remain half mast.

The Chief Minister has sought a report from Inspector General Police and directed to immediately arrest those responsible of the incident. He expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives in the blast and sympathies and condolences with the bereaved families. He directed the administration to provide best treatment facilities to the injured and added that senior officials of health department should personally supervise medical facilities being provided to injured persons.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the brutal beasts targeting innocent children, women and people in the park deserve no leniency and such cowardly act is highly condemnable. He said that all his sympathies and that of Punjab government are with the bereaved families and Punjab government equally shares their grief. He said that responsible of this incident will not escape law and those playing with the lives of innocent citizens will be taken to their logical end.

The Chief Minister said that today’s worst incident of terrorism has occurred in which several persons including innocent children have died. He said that the vicious beasts who killed the innocent people and their facilitators will meet their logical end.

Shahbaz Sharif said that he has no words to express his feelings and sentiments over this worst incident.
