MQM is not a party of the terrorists: Ch Shujaat Hussain

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League President and former Prime Minister Ch Shujaat Hussain has said MQM is not a terrorist party, Mustafa Kamal may name his party as MQM-P (Muttahidda Qaumi Movement Pakistan), Pervez Musharraf has not struck any deal nor sought pardon.

Addressing a press conference at his residence here today, he said that MQM leaders worked for their personal interests or at foreign instances which have mostly finished, Rangers and army jawans can be sent for defending the frontiers any time, this is not a new institution like FSF which was used during Bhutto era for killing the politicians and entering the assembly and throwing opposition members out, Mustafa Kamal should pinpoint terrorist elements in the present MQM, if MQM was a terrorist party then it would not have bagged so much votes in Karachi.

He said talking about banning 300 madaris calling Tableeghi Jamaat Raiwind as terrorist is wrong and improper, if couple of people enter in the gathering of lakhs does not mean that the entire organization be blamed.

Ch Shujaat Hussain further said that convening of joint session of the parliament over Pervez Musharraf’s leaving the country is sheer wastage of national exchequer, is this session is to be convened then it should be called about increasing price hike, unemployment and lawless in the country, after the verdict of the Supreme Court the govt had no option to stop Pervez Musharraf, Supreme Court had very categorically stated that the govt should decide, it is like beating about the bush.

Responding to questions, Ch Shujat Hussain said that blaming the Rangers tantamount to accusing the army, cricket team lost to India under law of necessity.

Replying to more questions, he said Mustafa Kamal can also be born in N-League, whatever Sheikh Rashid is saying is not wrong, there is some truth in it, about NAB Punjab people say the house has been set on fire by own lamp, abolishing the institutions is not the solution of the problem, PIA should also be put right, despite petrol being cheaper problem of price hike is there as it was, we had also brought bill for women’s rights but putting karras on men will result in increased number of divorces, families disputes will increase, those put on karras will also return to homes.

Ch Shujaat Hussain said that opposition’s grand alliance will be formed only when the number of candidates for the prime minister-ship comes down, Asif Zardari will also return, . He said further that the govt and the opposition have no interest in the peoples’ problems, the parliament should do real work of paying attention to the problems of the people.

In reply to a question, Ch Shujaat Hussain said that no doubt name of Nawaz Sharif will be written in the history but what, what will be written. He said in the meeting regarding National Action Plan he had suggested that instead of madaris, word educational institutions should be used.

He stated further that the Rangers officers and jawans have no personal enmity with anyone, they are killing the terrorists today and tomorrow they will be defending the frontiers of the motherland.

About a question regarding Mustafa Kamal, he said that he will show “kamal” as well “jamal” also. About NAB, he said the NAB Chairman is doing what he should be doing; he is working according to the cases being brought before him.

About forum of the former Prime Ministers of SAARC countries, he said that about 25 former prime ministers will be included in the forum, there are prime ministers in 6 SAARC countries and two have the presidents, Shaukat Aziz will also come if he is invited to the forum whereas former prime minister of Nepal will establish contact with former prime ministers of India.
