BISE Lahore issues Roll Number Slips 29 female students of class IX

BISE-LahoreLahore: Due to prompt action of Ombudsman Punjab Javaid Mahmood and relentless effort of Secretary Ombudsman Punjab Mumtaz Hussain Zahid, precious academic year of 29 female students of class IX, endangered by the Lahore Board & Headmistress, was saved by issuance of Roll Number Slips the same day i.e. just one day before Matric Exams.

Ombudsman Punjab ordered Chairman BISE Lahore and DCO Sheikhupura to separately have the matter probed into and a report on the facts of the issue and action taken be submitted to this office within fortnight.

According to details, 29 female students of 9th class from Govt. Girls High School, Kot Mahmood, Tehsil Sharaqpur, District Sheikhupura, entered appearance before Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood, alongwith their parents with a joint complaint.

It was voiced in the complaint that their admission forms, as regular students, on payment of dues of examination fee, were sent from Govt. Girls High School Kot Mehmood. They have not been issued Roll No. Slips from the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Lahore as school administration managed to get their Roll No. Slips blocked by the Board. Students and parents requested that their Roll No. Slips may be got issued so that they be able to take first paper of the Annual Examination due on next day.

Ombudsman Punjab directed Secretary Ombudsman Mumtaz Hussain Zahid to probe and resolve the issue on urgent basis. In view of the urgency and sensitivity of the matter, Secretary Ombudsman telephonically contacted the concerned authorities i.e. DCO Sheikhupura as being Head of District Administration, the concerned Deputy District Officer Education and Headmistress of the school.

Chairman, Secretary and Controller Examinations BISE, Lahore were also taken on board for their input. All the authorities were conveyed loud and clear message of the Ombudsman to take immediate action to resolve the issue. After due process and appropriate action, Roll No. Slips to all students were issued by the BISE, Lahore by the on the same day so that the students may take their papers on next day as per date sheet.

Due to prompt action by the Ombudsman Punjab, student’s precious year, which was endangered, was saved. Ombudsman Punjab while taking notice of deplorable state said that the students, which should have been busy in studies for upcoming examinations were forced to go pillar to post just to get their legitimate Roll No. Slips along with their parents. In this way not only their valuable time was wasted but students and their parents were also contracted mental torture.

Ombudsman Punjab ordered chairman BISE, Lahore and DCO Sheikhupura to separately have the matter probed into and a report on the facts of the issue and action taken be submitted to Ombudsman Office within fortnight.
