Corruption must be eradicated for better image of Pakistan: Prof Dr Zakria Zakir

professor dr zikria zakarLahore: Punjab University Dean Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences Prof Dr Zakria Zakir has said that it was a must to eradicate corruption from Pakistani society in order to present better image of Pakistan. He has said that corruption is not limited to a phenomenon that a government employee makes money rather it weakens the whole system.

He was addressing a seminar organized by PU Institute of Social and Cultural Studies in collaboration with National Accountability Bureau on the title of “Devastating Effects of Corruption on Pakistani Society” at the institute here on Tuesday.

Deputy Prosecutor General Accountability Nab Chaudhry Khaliq uz Zaman, Deputy Director Awareness NAB Muhammad Sajid, senior faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr Zakria Zakir said that corruption was a universal curse around the world and existed in all the countries as a common phenomenon. He said that however, our society was facing wide-ranging deleterious effects of corruption that are seriously threatening smooth institutional governance and quality of life.

He said that the major reasons of fast creeping corruption in our society were political instability, unequal structure of society, lack of accountability and transparency, weak political institutions and absence of rule of law.

Addressing the seminar, MR Zaman said that unless we rooted out causes of corruption, we could not root out corruption and Pakistan could not progress without eliminating corruption. Earlier, Mr Sajid gave a detailed present on various aspects of corruption.
