Lahore: Secretary Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Mal Punjab Haroon Rafique has said that in order to improve the standard of training courses of Qasr-e-Behbood, besides increasing the period of training from six months to one year, change will also be brought in the syllabus according to market demand so that women learning skills after one year’s training could start their own business immediately. He said that the desirous girls will be provided job opportunities in factories, public and private departments.
He expressed these views while addressing inaugural function of a 2-day exhibition of art and craft held in connection with international day of women under the aegis of Social Welfare Department at Qasr-e-Behbood, here today.
The Provincial Secretary said that after the approval of Women Protection Act 2016 by Punjab government, women can take part in business more confidently and play their active role shoulder to shoulder with men in national development.
Deputy Secretary Social Welfare Rafia Syed, Deputy Director Qasr-e-Behbood Tehmina Manaif, Deputy Director Sajid Zafar, Assistant Director Onia and teaching staff of Qasr-e-Behbood were also present on the occasion.
Stalls of dresses, jewelry, paintings, handicrafts and eatable items prepared by the students were installed in the exhibition and a large number of women purchased different items.
Secretary Haroon Rafique visited all stalls and appreciated the abilities of the students.
