Education Department signs MoU with British Council

Rana Mashhood Ahmad KhanLahore: Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said that British Council will provide full assistance to girl and boy students of schools in physical training and IT sectors. He said that in the light of MoU signed between Education Department Punjab and British Council during the previous visit of Chief Minister to England, the biggest program of teachers’ training in Punjab has entered into implementation phase.

He expressed these views on the occasion of presentation by a delegation of British Council Lahore regarding progress made so far with regard to MoU. Representative of British Council Islamabad Ali Ahmed and others were also present.

The Minister was informed that British Council Lahore has collected facts and figures regarding all schools and teachers which will benefit from the assistance of the institution. British Council representatives informed that Punjab educational model has been declared as the best and effective among the countries receiving assistance from the institution.

Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said that after completion of phase of provision of all necessary facilities required in schools, Education Department is now paying full attention to ensuring quality education and Chief Minister’ Parho Punjab Barho Punjab Program is an important part of it. He said that we are achieving the goal of hundred percent enrollment in schools of the province. He said that teachers, schools, students and programme of effective monitoring of the facilities have played an important role in achieving this goal.

He expressed the hope that the target of provision of quality education in Punjab will be achieved easily with the implementation of agreements made with British Council and University of London.
