Govt will facilitate international companies for foreign investment: Raja Ashfaq Sarwar

Raja Ashfaq SarwarLahore: Provincial Minister for Labour & Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said that Punjab government supports the international companies like Metro Cash & Carry Germany for provision of quality food and consumer goods to people at cheaper rates. Punjab government will facilitate international companies for foreign investment under Public Private Partnership to extend these services to grass root level throughout the province.

He stated this during a meeting with Head of the International Affairs of German group Metro, Ivonne Julitta Bollow and Manager Asia and International Affairs Moritz Seiler. Director Corporate Affairs Metro Cash & Carry Pakistan Pervaiz Akhtar and Manager Amir Latif along with high officials of the Labour Department were also present at this occasion.

Minister Labour Raja Ashfaq Sarwar lauded the services being provided to masses by German group in the form of world class departmental stores chain in Pakistan and also encouraged the company for their decision to provide On Job vocational training to its workers and best possible facilities for their welfare.

Head of the international affairs Metro Ivonne Julitta Bollow informed the Minister that their company has decided to provide infrastructure, equipment and furniture to small-scale traders and shopkeepers to open its franchised shops in all the major cities of the province. She apprised the Minister that the company is purchasing the produce of farmers directly so as to save them from any exploitation of middlemen providing them maximum profit.

Minister Labour briefed the delegation regarding social security and educational facilities provided to secured workers and their families along with other initiatives of Punjab government to curb the menace of child labour from brick kilns and other industrial as well as commercial units.

The Minister hoped that the company would finalize its program of On Job vocational training to its workers in collaboration with Punjab Vocational Training Council at the earliest.
