The NAB should also be allowed to operate in the Punjab:Senator Sirajul Haq

Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that if corruption was wiped out from the country, the development budget could be doubled and every citizen could be provided free medical cover and shelter.

Addressing a seminar on “Corruption Free Pakistan” organized by the JI Islamabad, he  demanded across the board accountability. He said that the NAB should also be allowed to operate in the Punjab and other provinces as in Karachi. He suggested the general public to socially boycott the corrupt people.

JUI(F) senior leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, Economist Dr Shahid Husain Siddiqui, JI deputy chief Mian Muhammad Aslam and senior journalist Hamid Mir also spoke on the occasion.

Sirajul Haq said that the PPP and the PML(N) had been in power twice in the past and both times, their governments were dismissed due to corruption yet loot and plunder was going on and in a much bigger scale.

The JI chief said that in the country’s history, there had been rulers who had no stigma of corruption on them.

Sirajul Haq said that in Islamabad, about fifty thousand acres of land had been given away in political bribe. He said that out of 180 million people, only one million were paying taxes. He said the people came to power by changing parties and continued loot and plunder.

He said the only option before the nation was to rise for its rights and against the corrupt.

The JI chief demanded that facts about the arrest of Aamir Latif related to the Orange Train project be made public.
