USAid & PITB to enhance collaboration for IT based projects

Lahore,Chief of ITU and PITB Dr. Umar Saif briefing the USAid Team on IT based projectsLahore: The USAid Head of Pakistan Miles Toder called on Vice Chancellor of IT University (ITU)/Chairman Punjab IT Board (PITB) Dr. Umar Saif  at Arfa IT Tower on Monday in order to explore and discuss collaborative ventures employing technology for development and entrepreneurship. He was accompanied by his team members Kamran Niazi and Ms Rukhsana.

Dr. Umar Saif briefed the USAid team on innovative projects initiated by the PITB to improve the health, education, agriculture and livestock sector. He told that the e-Vaccs program of PITB was being replicated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan as well. Mr. Toder lauded the efforts of PITB team for running a large number of IT based projects aiming at strengthening socio-economic growth in Punjab.

He appreciated the role of ITU in flourishing research culture. He suggested that the innovative projects presented in the International Development Design Summit (IDDS) held at Lahore last month should be replicated by the Punjab government so that economic benefits could spread throughout the country.

It was decided in the meeting that more projects would be started in the Livestock sector so that the ration of poverty may come down in Punjab. It was further stressed that reach of the citizens should be increased to the public health and basic education systems so that the country might overcome incredibly high rates of child mortality, advance the eradication of polio and raise literacy rate.  Registrar of the ITU Mr. Zaheer Sarwar was also present in the meeting.
