Shahbaz Sharif presides over meeting of Provincial Cabinet Committee on Law & Order

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over meeting of Provincial Cabinet Committee on Law & Order, here today, which reviewed in detail the incidents of firing on police officials in Lahore and Faisalabad and overall law & order situation of the province. The meeting offered Fateha for the souls of police officials martyred during firing in Lahore and Faisalabad and paid rich tributes to the great sacrifices of martyrs.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that Punjab government equally shares the grief of heirs of martyred police officials and the families of martyrs will be looked after properly. He said that the police officials martyred during performance of duty are heroes of the entire nation and their sacrifices will not go waste. Shehbaz Sharif said that the accused involved in the incidents of firing in Lahore and Faisalabad will not escape punishment. He said that those involved in firing on the police will be brought to their logical end and taken to task.

The Chief Minister directed that the accused involved in both incidents should be arrested at the earliest and all possible steps be taken in this regard. Inspector General Police presented initial report regarding firing incidents in Lahore and Faisalabad.

Shehbaz Sharif said that maintenance of law & order is the top priority. He said that all necessary steps should be taken for the protection of life and property of the people. He said that no effort should be spared in curbing criminals and anti-social elements. He directed that duties should be performed efficiently for controlling street crimes. He said that the crackdown against criminals and anti-social elements should be continued effectively. He said that the search operation should be continued in an effective manner.

The Chief Minister expressing indignation over the incidents of kite flying in Gujranwala and Faisalabad said that the law on ban of kite flying should be implemented strictly.

Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah, Special Assistant Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal, Inspector General Police, Secretary Home and senior officials of law enforcement agencies attended the meeting. MPA Jehangir Khanzada from Attock while CPO Faisalabad attended the meeting through video link.
