Patwar culture has almost been eliminate:Punjab Chief Minister

Shahbaz SharifLahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the work on land record computerization has almost been completed and it will eliminate patwar culture. He said that this important step of Punjab government is the milestone in the elimination of corruption and provision of best facilities to the masses. He said that the modern land record management and information system has been launched in all tehsils of the province. He said that services centers in 143 tehsils of Punjab are fully operational and providing services to the masses.

He was addressing a high level meeting regarding land record management & information system, here today. The Chief Minister also gave approval to the recruitment of more staff for the project. He said that computerization of land is a historic achievement of Punjab government. He said that due to computerization of land, patwar culture has been eliminated and lakhs of people are benefitting. He said that land record management & information system has made it possible to obtain ‘fard’ and complete the process of transfer of land within minutes.

Shahbaz Sharif said that land record management & information system is an important step towards curbing corruption, fraud and forgery. He said that the provision of documents and other matters relating to land is possible under one roof due to this project. He said that with the computerization of land record, a big facility has been provided to the people and this project of Punjab government worth billions of rupees is providing relief to the common man in the real sense. He said that a comprehensive system of monitoring has also been introduced under this project for maintaining transparency. He said that online monitoring dashboard system has also been evolved and its continuity is of the vital importance.

The Chief Minister directed that an autonomous and independent authority should be set up at the earliest for the implementation of the project in future and final recommendations be presented after evolving a comprehensive framework for computerization of urban land record. He said that state-of-the-art data center is also being established and issued instructions for making it operational as early as possible.

Shahbaz Sharif directed that the service centers should remain operational from morning till late night so that maximum facilities could be available to the people with regard to obtaining documents of their land. He said that there is no room for corrupt and inefficient staff in this project and besides departmental action, cases should also be sent against such elements to anti-corruption.

The Chief Minister said that appreciation of land record computerized system project by World Bank Mission is a proof of splendid performance of Punjab government and the concerned institutions and  officers deserve all out credit.

Chairman Planning & Development gave a detailed briefing on land record management and information system. He said that World Bank Mission has lauded the services of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the officers of the project upon its completion as well as appreciated the monitoring system of Punjab government.

Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Members Punjab Assembly Eng. Qamar ul Islam, Mian Tariq Mahmood, Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal, Senior Member Board of Revenue, concerned secretaries and senior officials were present on the occasion.
