History can produce good citizens: US professor Metcalf Barbra

Lahore: University of California’s expert on South Asia Prof Metcalf Barbra has said that the subject of history can play important role in producing good citizens in the society.

He was addressing a seminar organized by Punjab University Department of History here on Tuesday. Dean Faculty of Arts and Chairman Prof Dr Iqbal Chawla, Dr Faraz Anjum, Dr Mahboob Hussain, Ghazi Muhammad Abdullah, Dr Naumana, Dr Maqbool Awan, other faculty members and students of M Phil and PhD were present on the occasion.

Prof Barbra gave a detailed lecture on the new aspects of historiography. Dr Iqbal Chawala briefed the participants on historiography with reference to Pakistan and shed light on the work of Pakistani historian. Later, Dr Barbara called on PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran and the both discussed various issues of mutual interest.
