Chief Secretary Punjab reviews the steps being taken to control influenza

Chief Secretary Punjab Khizar Hayat GondalLahore: Chief Secretary Punjab Khizar Hayat Gondal, on daily basis, is chairing a meeting to review the steps being taken to control influenza in the province.

Addressing a meeting at Civil Secretariat on Friday, the Chief Secretary said that all possible measures are being taken to control influenza. He directed that patients be given best medical facilities in hospital. He ordered that besides preventive measures awareness campaign about the disease be continued in a vigorous manner.

In his briefing, Director General Health Services Dr Amjad Shehzad told the meeting that the number of influenza patients in the province is 53. He added that 2 new patients have been reported in Lahore during the last 24 hours. He said that one patient died of influenza in Holy Family Hospital during the last 24 hours bringing the death toll to 18.

The meeting was attended by Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique, MPA Khawaja Imran Nazir, Additional Chief Secretary Shumail Ahmad Khwaja, Secretary Health Najam Ahmad Shah, Secretary Health (Primary) Ali Jan, and Chairman PITB Dr Umar Saif.
