An awareness clinical seminar on swine flu held at Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital

Lahore: An awareness clinical seminar on influenza virus/swine flu, in connection with Continuous Medical Education (CME), was held at Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital, Multan Road, Lahore, today. A large number of doctors from various hospitals, directorates of social security, social security medical centers and social security dispensaries attended the seminar.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Nizami, Medical Superintendent informed about the situation of swine flu in Pakistan and preparations by the Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital Multan Road in this regard. Dr. Amir lqbal, Chief Consultant Physician gave a lecture on swine flu and thoroughly discussed the spectrum of the disease, its signs and symptoms, diagnostic criteria as well as treatment of influenza affected patients. Dr. M. Nasir Javaid Qureshi also spoke on the occasion.

Question-answer session was also held with active participation of the participants. The seminar furnished recommendations to carry out preventive measures by healthcare providers including awareness, prophylactic vaccination against influenza viruses, adequate provision and use of hand sanitizer, use of mask while attending the patients and provision of medicines at the hospitals for management of influenza H1N1 disease.
