PM Nawaz sharif arrives after concluding official visit to Sri Lanka

Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Wednesday returned from Sri Lanka after concluding his three-day official visit.

The Prime Minister undertook the official visit at the invitation of the President of Sri Lanka.

Earlier, the Prime Minister was seen off by Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Maj Gen (retd) Syed Shakil Hussain and the senior officials of Sri Lankan government were present.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister visited historical sites in Kandy- the scenic and second largest city of Sri Lanka.He toured the site to see the ‘Sacred Tooth Relic’ of Buddha and met Muslim notables of the area at the Jinnah Hall.

The Prime Minister planted a tree at the Botanical Gardens.

During his three-day visit, the Prime Minister held meetings with the Sri Lankan leadership on issues of bilateral interest.

The Prime Minister along with Sri Lankan President Maithripala Srisena witnessed the signing of eight accords of cooperation in areas including trade, financial intelligence sharing, science and technology and healthcare.He also delivered a special lecture to Sri Lankan parliamentarians, ministers and diplomats on the topic of Pakistan – Sri Lanka relations.

The Prime Minister held interactions with top executives and corporate leaders and invited them for investment in Pakistan.

The Prime Minister’s delegation included Begum Kalsoom Nawaz, Commerce Minister Khurram Dastagir Khan, Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi and National Security Advisor Lt Gen (retd) Nasir Khan Janjua.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif left here for home after concluding his three-day official visit to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe saw off Prime Minister Sharif at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

A contingent of static guards of Sri Lankan Armed forces presented salute to the Prime Minister.
