Professor Dr. Syed Nawazish-i-Husain presents his research work in UK

Dr. Syed Nawazish-i-HusainLahore: Punjab University College of Pharmacy Assistant Professor Dr. Syed Nawazish-i-Husain has presented his research work in collaboration with University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK at British Pharmacological Society’s esteemed winter meeting known as Pharmacology-2015 at London.

This hallmark meeting is an annual feature of the society which provides the scientists from all over the world an exclusive opportunity to showcase their research and discuss and debate the hypotheses on which their groups have under taken the research work.

In addition, it also provides scientists a platform to look into the possibilities of research collaboration and transfer the skills to their respective universities. His presentation was titled “Comparison of the agonist activities of treprostinil and naxaprostene in rat tail and pulmonaryarteries” which was keenly seen and thoroughly discussed by the renowned scientists working in the same area.

Currently, treprostinil is being used to treat pulmonary hypertension. The results of the study have unveiled the mechanism of action of these drugs at a variety of vascular tissues including pulmonary and rat tail arteries.

Furthermore, the data also suggest the functional expression of various prostanoid receptors in these vessels and more so will assist in developing future pharmacological molecules, targeting the prostanoid receptors, to treat pulmonary hypertension; a disease still remain untreatable with the current therapeutic tools.
