Kh Salman Rafique directs to accelerate the pace of civil work of Surgical Tower, Mayo Hospital

Kh Salman Rafique directs to accelerate the pace of civil work of Surgical Tower, Mayo HospitalLahore: Advisor on Health to Chief Minister, Khawaja Salman Rafique has directed that pace of civil work should be accelerated for the completion of Surgical Tower, Mayo Hospital as early as possible. He said that government would provide additional funds immediately when the released funds would be utilized. He said that surgical tower would be made functional in next year at every cost.

He said this while chairing a meeting to review the construction work of the surgical tower of Mayo Hospital, here today.

DG Health Punjab Dr. Amjad Shehzad, Additional Secretary Development Mehmood Hassan, Chief Planning Officer Health Abdul Haq Bhatti, Prof. Ibrar Ashraf, officers of C&W department and concerned contractor were also attended the meeting.

Kh. Salman Rafiq directed that construction of surgical tower should be completed according to the work-schedule and for this purpose, work should be carried out in double shifts. The meeting was informed that government has provided funds of Rs.200 million for the project.

Kh. Salman Rafiq directed that these funds should be utilized at the earliest. He assured that government would provide additional funds for the project. He directed the contractor that the civil work of the project should be completed by May 30, 2016, for this purpose timeline should be fixed.

DG Health Amjad Shehzad briefed the meeting regarding the opening of Letter of Credit for CSSD and laundry machinery. The Advisor directed that a meeting of Health, C&W, Finance and P&D departments would be called after a fortnight to review the pace of work of the project.

Kh. Salman Rafiq said that he would personally monitor the construction work for ensuring completion of the project in the next year. He said that after completion of surgical tower, 16 operation theaters would be functional due to which thousands patients coming to the Mayo Hospital would be benefited from these facilities and additional beds also be available for them.
