PITB and CDGL join hands to coordinate students, parents and teachers of public schools electronically

PITB and CDGLLahore: Punjab IT Board (PITB) and City District Government Lahore (CDGL) have decided to launch a web based pilot project named as School Management System. It was conceded by the Chairman PITB Dr. Umar Saif and District Coordination Officer Lahore Capt. ® Muhammad Usman in a meeting held at Arfa Software Technology Park on Friday.

Both organizations will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to start work immediately.

Dr. Umar Saif said “the system will enable to keep the parents informed about their child’s presence, homework and progress through an sms or central dash board whereon all relevant information such as attendance of teachers, examinations schedule, annual calendar of events and co-curricular activities.” He hoped that

after success in Lahore, the system would be implemented across the province. DCO told presently 370,000 students had been enrolled in 352 public schools of Lahore. He said that the influx of migration to Lahore has increased manifold in recent years and public schools were becoming overburdened.

He said “the main purpose of the service is to inform parents of the students about their performance and other activities through sms or internet. Similarly the parents could also avail the service by sending SMS to school management for getting performance report of their children. The modern technology is a must to enhance the standard of public schools. Proposed School Management System will be a landmark to bridge up the communication gap prevailing among students, teachers and parents. Parent will be involved through this technology and this service would also help in removing barriers in communication gap between parents and teachers of school. The system will help maintaining attendance record, leave record, medical history and performance reports through an automated mechanism.”

DCO further elaborated that “The service under such pilot project will be free of cost and it has been introduced for the first time in public schools. Initially the service had been started on trial basis in the Govt. Model Girls High School Model Town, Comprehensive Higher Secondary School for Boys Ghoray Shah, Comprehensive Higher Secondary School for Girls Wahdat Road and Govt. Boys High School and Govt. Girls High school Retigen Road.
