PTI to gather all opposition parties to counter rigging: Ch Sarwar

PTI Ch Sarwar PicLahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Organizer Punjab Chaudhary Sarwar on Wednesday announced to gather all opposition parties on one platform to initiate a struggle against the perpetrators of the fraudulent by-elections.

He said that an All Parties Conference would be called after December 5 to discuss the strategy. He further announced that the third phase of local government election campaign canvassing Rawalpindi would commence from November 27.

PTI plans to hold public meetings at more than 200 places till elections scheduled for Dec 5, he added. He said PTI would also struggle to ensure that Punjab Government distributes due powers to the local government representatives. He told that PTI remained successful in organising and strengthening the party at union council level. He demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan should learn from its mistakes and ensure transparent and fair elections in the third phase.

Talking to media persons at his office, Chaudhary Sarwar said the PTI Punjab would run aggressive campaigns for the third phase of by-elections in Rawalpindi, Khushaab, Narowal, Sialkot and other districts. He further said that PTI would hold more than 200 public meetings, rallies and corner meetings in all union councils. These public meetings would be addressed by respective district organisers and other office-bearers besides himself, he added.

Chaudhary Sarwar said the rulers had always tried to escape from holding the local government elections but the efforts of PTI compelled it to organise the elections. He said the incumbent rulers were still following “one man show” mindset but the rulers would be compelled to devolve powers to the newly elected public representatives. Otherwise, he said, the local government representatives would not be able to solve people’s problems at their doorsteps. He said the masses would feel strengthened, when the local government institutions would be strengthened.
