Lobbying starts for top slot of chairman district council

MNA Nasir BosalMandi Bahauddin(Sher Gondal) : With the end of LG elections for chairman union councils and general councilors PMLN has been divided into two groups headed by PML-N MNA Nasir Bosal and Mumtaz Tarar each.

Tussle has started between these groups for grabbing top slot of chairman District Council. Nasir Bosal is lobbying for his cousin Ghulam Hussain Bosal where as Mumtaz Tarar wooing the voters to field his nephew Zahid Sarfraz.

These both aspirants did not contest election for chairman union council on the ticket of PMLN and got elected as chairman as independent candidates. Newly elect chairman UC Shaheedanwali Iqbal Warriach said that there are only 22 elect chairmen who won the election on PMLN ticket.

The candidates being considered by both MNAs of the district are their relatives. Zahid is nephew of Mumtaz Tarar and Ghulam Hussain is first cousin of Nasir Bosal and elder brother of MPA Akhtar Bosal. They have been in power since long. He said PML-N should make a chairman District Council from the chairmen union councils who won election on the ticket of PML-N. He said people who have been working as loyalists of the party should also be made members of District council on reserve seats for kisan and laborers.

In Mandi Bahauddin Municipal Committee there are 33 General Councilors. PMLN did not issue ticket to anyone to avoid quarrel over grant of tickets. Only one or two general councilors belong to PTI and remaining are independents. Punjab Minister for women claims the confidence of 17 independents general councilors and is lobbying for support of candidate of her choice for the slot of Chairman MC Mandi Bahauddin.

On the other side District President PML-N and former MPA Devan Mushtaq is flexing muscles for launching his own candidate for MC Chairman. In Phalia Municipal committee there are 17 councilors and among them 13 are independent. Reportedly these independents have pledged to side with PTI leader Aman ullah Baber. In Malikwal there are 12 general councilors and among them 8 are independent.

PML-N local leadership is trying to win the confidence of independents to support for fielding their candidate to bag chairman slot Malikwal MC. People in general have rejected the parties during the election of second phase and they demand that this time workers and persons who have never been in power should be given chance to fight election for chairman district council and other three municipal committees in the district.
