Increasing population can be controlled through women education:Begum Zakia Shahnawaz

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has said that Punjab government is working on multidimensional fronts. She said that elimination of terrorism and increasing literacy rate are top priorities of the government. She said that primary education of girls is being given special importance in backward areas.

She expressed these views while addressing the participants of National Security Workshop at Civil Secretariat, today. Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Chief Secretary Punjab Khizar Hayat Gondal, Additional IGP, CTD and Chairman PITB also attended the workshop.

The Provincial Minister told that the number of primary girl schools has been doubled as, in fact, education creates awareness, sense of protection and responsibility among women. She said that women education is only source through which increasing population can be controlled.

Begum Zakia Shahnawaz said that urban development is also essential. She said that a coordinated system has been evolved for resolving socio-economic, administrative and educational problems in the province. She said that provision of best treatment facilities has been ensured in the hospitals.
